Construction company and city sued in slip and fall incident

NEW ORLEANS – A local woman is suing a construction company and the city after falling at a construction site.

Agnelia Adams filed suit against Archer Western Contractors LLC and the City of New Orleans in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on March 4.

The incident in question occurred on Nov. 16, 2012 when Adams was walking near the Joy Theater construction site near Canal and North Rampart Streets. The suit alleges that Adams fell due to the construction and sustained injuries to her knee, head, ribs, back, neck and shoulder.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to properly inspect the area where the accident occurred, failing to properly maintain and repair premises, failing to clean the area, failing to use reasonable and prudent care under the circumstances and failing to warn of the unreasonable dangerous condition.

Damages in excess of $50,000 are sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses,  loss of enjoyment of life, loss of wages and loss of earning capacity.

Adams is represented by AJ Rebennack of Metairie

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
