Woman who allegedly cut hand at Wal-Mart sues

GRETNA – A Marrero retailer is being sued by a woman who claims she was cut by broken glass on its premises.

Paulette Joseph filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and its insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court.

Joseph claims she was purchasing items at the Wal-Mart located on Lapalco Boulevard in Marrero when she cut her hand on broken glass. The plaintiff alleges her hand was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to operate the store in a safe manner, failing to properly train and supervise employees in a safe manner, failing to keep proper inventory and failing to protect against broken glass.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physicians’ professional services, prescription medications, pain and suffering, loss of consortium, medical expenses and lost wages.

Joseph is represented by Alexandra Mora of New Orleans-based the Law Office of Alexandra Mora APLC.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.

Case no. 724-201.
