GRETNA – A Plaquemines Parish woman is suing a Harvey bar and its owners for injuries she claims to have received in a fall on its premises.

Ashley Elizabeth Prejean filed suit against The Edge Bar & Grill, Express Food Deli Inc., Vincent Maenza Jr., Jorge A. and Teresa G. Ochoa and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on March. 8.

Prejean claims she was exiting The Edge Bar & Grill located at 2151 Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey when she fell 10 inches off the walkway in front of the door. The plaintiff alleges she broke both bones in her lower left leg in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to keep the property safe for customers, failing to properly design and construct a walkway, failing to keep passageways and doors safe for users, failing to properly and adequately maintain and operate the property, allowing or creating a hazardous and dangerous condition, failing to inspect the property to ensure safety to its users and violating parish and state building codes and regulations.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, lost wages, medical expenses, lost wages and permanent disability.

Prejean is represented by Harahan-based attorney Robert T. Garrity Jr.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.

Case no. 724-640.
