Rouse’s sued by woman who claims numerous injuries after allegedly slipping in store

Rouses

GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a customer who claims she was severely injured in a fall on their premises.

Juanita W. Johnson filed suit against Rouse’s Enterprises LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 16. Johnson claims she was shopping at the Rouse’s grocery store located at 1000 W. Esplanade Ave. in Kenner when she slipped on a liquid substance and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges she received injuries to her neck, back, mind and body in the fall, which resulted in her seeking medical attention.

The defendant is accused of failing to hire competent and qualified personnel to monitor their store for faulty or slippery areas, failing to maintain their store in a safe and proper condition, failing to exercise reasonable care to keep aisles and passageways in a reasonably safe condition, failing to hire competent employees who would not create dangerous and defective conditions and failing to maintain the prudent and proper degree of care and caution required of merchants.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, inconvenience, humiliation, frustration, loss of enjoyment of life, restriction of activity, medical expenses, loss of wages and loss of earning capacity.

Johnson is represented by attorney Ford T. Hardy Jr. of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.

Case no. 725-978.
