GRETNA – A subcontractor on local school renovation project is suing the project’s main contractor for allegedly not paying for services.
Walter J. Breaux, individually on behalf of Walter J. Breaux Electrical Services, filed suit against the Olympic Group LL and the Gray Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 23.
Breaux claims his company Walter J. Breaux Electrical Services was subcontracted by the Olympic Group to provide labor, tools, equipment and materials in the renovation of the Woodlake School in Mandeville.
The plaintiff alleges that the contract it entered into was for $2,000 a week for Breaux’s services plus an hourly rate for all workers he employed. Breaux asserts the defendant asked his business to perform work outside the scope of the project and also only paid for the first four invoices totaling $21,994.61. The plaintiff claims he is still owed $30,593.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract, misapplication of payments and unjust enrichment.
Damages in the amount of $30,593 are sought plus legal costs and attorney’s fees.
Breaux is represented by Timothy F. Hand of Gretna-based Hand, Holmes, Pilie & Matthews LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
Case no. 726-341.
