NEW ORLEANS - A Lafayette Parish resident is suing a New Orleans-based recycling company for injuries incurred during a work accident.

Bryant Rogers filed suit against Southern Recycling LLC in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on May 23.

Rogers, a heavy equipment operator for Tri C-Construction, was allegedly contracted to work on a scrap yard facility owned by Southern Recycling LLC. In June 2012 Roger claims that a buried bottle or canister containing acetylene gas exploded while he was operating a bulldozer.

The defendant is accused of having unreasonably dangerous conditions on its property.

Damages in an excess of $50,000 are asked for pain and suffering, mental and emotional anguish, medical expenses, loss of earning and permanent disfigurement.

The plaintiff is represented by Joseph F. Gaar Jr. of the Lafayette-based Gaar Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Paula A. Brown.

Case no. 2013-04927.
