Casino sued after woman allegedly slipped and fell in toilet stall

NEW ORLEANS - A St. Bernard Parish woman who was allegedly injured after slipping and falling in a toilet stall at a local casino is suing.

Janice M. Williams filed suit against Boomtown LLC of Delaware, Boomtown Casino, Lachonna Walker and their insurer in the Orleans Parish Central District Court on July 9.

The suit claims that on October 27, 2012, Williams was at Boomtown Casino located on 4132 Peters Road in Harvey, La. Williams entered the bathroom where she claims she noticed a housekeeper spraying a type of air freshener on a rug. Upon entering the handicap stall, Williams slip and fell, unable to grab the partition.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to clean up foreign matter on the floor and not taking care of preventing dangerous and hazardous conditions.  An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain, mental anguish and several injuries to her neck and back.

The plaintiff is represented by Michael G. Ginart Jr. of the Chalmette-based Law Offices of Ginart & Jones.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.

Case no. 2013-06369.
