GRETNA – A health clinic that serves indigent citizens is suing its attorney for allegedly overbilling for legal services.

Jefferson Community Health Care Center Inc. filed the suit against Clarence Roby in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 12.

Jefferson Community Health Care Center Inc. claims it received notice from the Louisiana Legislative Auditor who found the center was overcharged by Roby in the amount of $143,635. The plaintiff alleges that the overbilling was a result of several contracts the defendant had with the plaintiff.

Jefferson Community Health Care Center Inc. asserts that after the Legislative Auditor returned the findings on Aug. 12, 2012 it did an independent audit of their records that also found the center had been overbilled by Roby.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages is sought for $143,635 for the amount overbilled.

Jefferson Community Health Care Center Inc. is represented by attorney Robert T. Garrity Jr. of Harahan.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.

Case no. 729-849.
