Hospital sued by woman who allegedly slipped in rainwater while visiting emergency room

Ochsner baptist

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local hospital where she allegedly injured herself after slipping on rain water that accumulated in a hallway.

Sybil Kaiser filed suit against Shelly Sullivan and the Ochsner Clinic Foundation Hospital in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 15.

Kaiser claims on Aug. 19, 2012, it had been raining much of the day when she went to visit her aunt in the emergency room of the Ochnser Foundation Hospital. The plaintiff alleges that as she made her way down the hallway she slipped in water that had accumulated and fell to the floor. Kaiser asserts she received painful and permanent injuries in the incident for which she was treated in the hospital's emergency room.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a safe walkway, failing to provide adequate security, failing to respond properly to injured persons in hospital and failing to see what should have been seen on a security camera in the area.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical bills and pain and suffering.

Kaiser is represented by attorney Brian Sondes of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee. V. Faulkner Jr.

Case no. 729-958.
