GRETNA – A home health agency is being sued by a woman who fell during a physical therapy session.
Dorothy O. Monteleone filed suit against Central Home Health LLC, their insurer and an unknown employee in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 21.
Monteleone claims that following cardiac bypass surgery, Central Home Health was coordinating her in-home care. The plaintiff alleges that during a physical therapy session in her Metairie home with an unknown employee she was injured in a fall.
Monteleone asserts in the incident she received a head injury, rib fracture, severe bruising to the left side of her body, memory loss and other residual injuries.
The defendant is accused of failing to instruct and take proper care of the plaintiff, failing to take necessary steps to prevent the plaintiff’s fall and leaving unattended despite her condition and fall risk.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, medical expenses, temporary disability, permanent disability, lost wages, loss of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.
Monteleone is represented by Michael G. Calogero of the Metairie-based Law Office of Michael G. Calogero LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
