Homeowner sued for $30K by elevation company

Shoring

GRETNA – A home elevation company is suing a homeowner who allegedly failed to pay for elevation work.

Gulf States Contractors LLC filed suit against Chanelle Brown in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 30.

Gulf States Contractors claims it entered into an agreement with Brown to elevate her home located at 2157 Sauvage Ave. in Marrero. The plaintiff alleges that the work was to be funded by a $100,000 grant by the State of Louisiana Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Gulf States Contractors asserts that Brown received $30,000 as a partial payment for the elevation, which she never turned over and that she still owes $20,000.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $50,000 are sought by the plaintiff.

Gulf States Contractors is represented by attorney Michael F. Weiner of Covington.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge Robert A. Pitre Jr.

Case no. 731-574.
