Subcontractor on Nicholl’s State University project sues for non-payment of $106K

Breach of contract

GRETNA – A subcontractor that claims they provided masonry work on a state university construction project is suing the project’s main contractor for non-payment.

W.D. Masonry LLC filed suit against Lamar Contractors Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 30.

W.D. Masonry asserts it entered into a contract with Lamar Contractors Inc. to provide masonry work on the a recreation facility at Nicholl’s State University in Thibodeaux. The plaintiff alleges it competed the work required of them in in accordance with the agreement, but was never paid. W.D. Masonry claims they made requests for the amount owed June, July and August 2012 and February 2013, but have not received the funds.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $106,865.70 are sought by sought by W.D. Masonry LLC.

W.D. Masonry is represented by attorney Joseph A. Perrault Jr. of Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division K Judge Ellen Shirer Kovach.
