GRETNA – A local school district is being sued by a woman who claims her car was damaged when a school bus that ran a stop sign collided with her.
Ashley Warino and Kimberly Gibson, individually and on behalf of their minor children, and filed suit against National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Penn.; Jefferson Parish Public School System; and Jonathan Ohillia in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 9.
Warino claims that on Nov. 2, 2012, she was stopped at the intersection of Redwood Drive and Gretna Boulevard in Gretna with two children in her car when the side of her car was struck by a Jefferson Parish Public School System bus driven by bus driver Ohillia. The plaintiff asserts that the bus ran into her after he driver disregarded a stop sign.
The defendant is accused of operating a motor vehicle in a careless and reckless manner, failing to stop at a stop sign, failing to see what a reasonable driver would have seen, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to avoid a collision.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for personal injuries, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life and property damage.

The case has been assigned to Division P Judge Lee V. Faulkner Jr.
