Gavel1

A seaman has filed a lawsuit for $7 million claiming he was injured after he fell off a ladder.

Richard Arthur Norman filed suit against Odyssea Marine Inc. on Dec. 18 in federal court in New Orleans.

Norman claims he was injured on Feb. 20, 2013 while climbing the fixed ladder leading to the top of the wheelhouse. While climbing, he fell off the ladder to the deck and severely injured himself.

The defendant is accused of failing to furnish Norman with a safe place to work.

The plaintiff is seeking an award of $7 million in damages for mental and physical pain and suffering, lost wages, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, interest, punitive damages, court costs, and attorney’s fees.

Norman is represented by Thomas M. Discon of Discon Law Firm in Mandeville and Ponchatoula attorney Robert K. Lansden.

U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey is assigned to the case.
