Contractor building sound wall along Interstate 10 sued by homeowners

GRETNA – Two Jefferson Parish homeowners are suing a local construction company and a state agency for allegedly damaging their property while constructing a sound wall along Interstate 10.

Stephen C. Juan and Paskaran Nair filed suit against James Construction Group LLC and the Louisiana Department of Transportation in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 13.

Juan, who lives at 5900 Arlene St. in Metairie, and Nair, who lives at 5904 Arlene St. in Metairie, claims that James Construction began construction on an interstate sound wall along the 5900 block of Arlene St. in Metarie. The plaintiffs allege that due to construction including the driving of pilings, extensive excavation and the operation of heavy machinery their home was damaged.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for damages to their fences, paved areas, swimming pools, exterior and interior walls, damages to the leveling of the premises

Juan is representing the both himself and Nair in the case.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
