GRETNA – A corporate retailer is being sued by a customer who claims he was injured in a slip and fall.
Douglas Mendel filed suit against Target Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 27.
Mendel asserts he was shopping at the Target store located at 1401 W. Esplanade Ave. in Kenner on June 26, 2013 when he stepped in standing water and slipped and fell to the floor. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants failed to warn him that there was water on the floor before the incident. Mendel claims he was injured in the incident and has since received extensive medical care and treatment.
The defendant is accused of negligence.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of life’s pleasures, medical expenses, wage loss and loss of earning capacity.
Mendel is represented by Stephen R. Rue of Kenner-based Stephen R. Rue & Associates LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
