GRETNA – A woman who was allegedly injured in an accident in which a public bus she was riding in was hit by a vehicle is suing for car rental fees and other relief.
Tiffenay Israel filed suit against State Farm Automobile Insurance Company, Wayne J. Galjour Jr., Jefferson Parish Transit, Jefferson Transit Administration, Clark Joseph Fraise and Old Republic Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 27.
Israel alleges that she was riding in a bus owned by Jefferson Parish Transit when it was sideswiped by a car driven by Galjour. The plaintiff claims that in addition to damages for being permanently disabled in the accident she should also be entitled to rental car fees.
The defendant is accused of failing to see what should have been seen, failing to keep a good and careful lookout, failing to maintain reasonable and proper control of vehicle, improper lane usage and operating vehicle in a careless and reckless manner.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, rental expenses, property damage, loss of use of vehicle, loss of future earning capacity, permanent disability, loss of consortium and loss of enjoyment of life.
