Contractor sues homeowners for allegedly not paying for home improvements

Breach of contract

GRETNA – A local contractor is suing a local couple for allegedly not paying for improvements provided to their home.

Southern Home Improvement Center Inc. filed suit against Lori and Rodney James in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 4.

Southern Home Improvement Center Inc. asserts on Oct. 27, 2007 it contracted with Lori James to perform work on her home located at 800-802 Fried Street in Gretna. The plaintiff alleges it installed vinyl siding, soffits and shutters on the James’ home for a cost of $9,017. Southern Home Improvement Center Inc. claims the James have not paid for the work that was completed.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of $9,017 plus $2,254.25 in attorney’s fees.

Southern Home Improvement Center Inc. is represented by Craig S. Sossaman of Metairie-based The Law Offices of Craig S. Sossaman.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
