GRETNA – A local construction company is suing a law firm it claims is liable for not showing up to defend the company at a hearing where a $72,000 judgement was granted against them.
True Wall Enterprises LLC filed suit against J. Douglas Sunseri, Svetlana Crouch and Nicaud & Sunseri LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 26.
True Wall Enterprises claims it contracted with the defendants to represent the company in a case against another construction company. The plaintiff asserts that a year and a half into the case, and after several motions were filed, Sunseri was served with a certified copy of a request for hearing to dismiss the case. True Wall Enterprises alleges that while it believed Sunseri or Crouch would attend the hearing, neither showed us and subsequently the plaintiff in the case received a $72,630.95 judgement in the case plus an additional $7,461.42 in costs, the lawsuit claims.
The defendants are accused of legal malpractice.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for all losses.
