GRETNA – A local oil change provider is being sued by a car owner who claims his engine was damaged when the provider allegedly forgot to put an oil filter on the car before releasing it.

Warren Gordon, and wife Lynette, filed suit against Guy F. Laigast, Concel Enterprises LLC and Soft Touch Express Wash & Lube in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 11.

Gordon claims that on April 21, 2013 he went to Soft Touch Express Wash & Lube located at 569 Behrman Highway in Terrytown to have the oil and oil filter changed on his 2005 Toyota Camry. The plaintiff asserts that the following day his wife drove the car to and from work without noticing any problem, but on the second day following the oil change the car’s oil and check engine lights came on and she pulled over and had the car towed to their home.

Gordon alleges that when he took the car to a local auto dealership they found that the oil filter had not been replaced and the engine oil had been allowed to blow out of the open hole, which allegedly ruined the entire engine.

The defendant is accused of unfair trade practices and violation of consumer protection laws.

Damages in the amount of $6,698.07, plus treble damages and attorney’s fees are sought by the plaintiffs.

The Gordons are represented by attorney John A. Hollister of Mandeville.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.

Case no. 737-395.
