Hospital sued by patient allegedly injured after being struck by facility vehicle in parking garage

GRETNA – An area hospital is being sued by a woman who claims she was injured after being run over by an employee in a company vehicle in its parking garage.

Felthus Elizabeth Blaise filed suit against Ochsner Health Systems Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 13.

Blaise claims she was walking through the hospital parking garage after a medical appointment when an unknown Ochsner employee ran into her with a vehicle owned by the hospital. The plaintiff alleges she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to exercise appropriate caution, failing to pay attention when operating a motor vehicle, failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to maneuver the motor vehicle to avoid the accident, failing to control the speed of a motor vehicle, failing to keep a motor vehicle under reasonable and proper control, disregarding the safety of others and failing to see what should have been seen.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, distress and medical expenses.

Blaise is represented by attorney Anthony S. Taormina of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division O Judge Ross P. LaDart.
