GRETNA – A woman who claims her face was severely burned by eyebrow wax is suing.

Sheila Lane filed suit against Passion Nails & Spa in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 27.

Lane alleges that on March 25 she was getting her eyebrows waxed at Passion Nails & Spa located at 214 Severn St. in Metairie when the employee applying the wax to her face did not properly treat the wax making it too hot for human skin. The plaintiff asserts that due to wax being too hot she received second degree burns when it was applied to her eyebrows. Lane claims she received severe and disabling injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to turn off hot wax prior to use and failing to realize wax was too hot to apply to human skin.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, permanent disability, loss of consortium, loss of enjoyment of life, penalties and attorney’s fees.

Lane is represented by Dante J. Butler of New Orleans-based Law Office of Rome Butler & Rome LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.

Case no. 738-846.
