Cleaning company sued by customer over alleged breach of contract

Breach of contract

GRETNA – A cleaning company is being sued by one of its customers for allegedly breaching a settlement agreement.

Bruno Inc. filed suit against Central Building Services LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 6.

Bruno Inc. claims that on Jan. 13 one of its administrative assistants executed a maintenance agreement with Central Building Services for commercial cleaning and maintenance services. The plaintiff alleges that many of the buildings the defendants listed on a bill had not been serviced. Bruno Inc. asserts on Feb. 24 it issued partial payment to Central Building Services, but it was accidentally thrown away with other papers.

The plaintiff contends it received a demand letter from the defendant on March 18 for an amount above and beyond the amount owed. Bruno Inc. claims it reached an agreement with Central Building Services regarding a payment which it then allegedly refused to accept payment.

The defendant is accused of not abiding by a settlement agreement, declaratory judgment, negligence and breach of contract.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought to declare a valid and enforceable settlement, declaring the maintenance agreement void and awarding damages sustained in breach of contract.

Bruno Inc. is represented by attorney Judith V. Windhorst of Jones Walker of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.

Case no. 739-186.
