Hospital west jefferson 1

GRETNA – A medical malpractice lawsuit has been filed against West Jefferson Medical Center by a patient who alleges she was severely burned during a routine procedure.

Denise Jones filed suit against Dr. Julie Taylor, Jefferson Parish Hospital District No. 1 and West Jefferson Medical Center in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 23.

Jones asserts that on May 20, 2010 she underwent a routine procedure that required her to be placed under anesthesia and when she awoke she found she had several burns in her groin and buttocks area.  The plaintiff contends the burns were severe enough to warrant skin grafts that were conducted West Jefferson Medical Center a few days later.

The defendant is accused of medical malpractice.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, stress, having to undergo additional dangerous medical procedures, lost wages and loss of future earnings.

Jones is represented by attorney Tamara Kluger Jacobson of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.

Case no. 739-711.
