NEW ORLEANS – After sustaining injuries while riding a bus, a passenger has filed a negligence suit against multiple parties.

Thaddeus Jones filed suit against New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, Old Republic Insurance, Veolia Transportation and an unknown driver in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 18.

The plaintiff claims he sustained injuries to his shoulder, neck, and back when he was an occupant on a New Orleans Regional Transit Authority bus. Jones claims the driver of the bus acted negligently when he suddenly and without warning slammed on the brakes. The plaintiff asserts that the negligent actions of the defendant caused him to fall over a railing on the bus and directly caused him to sustain the injuries.

The defendant is accused of failing to take into account the safety of others, failing to operate a vehicle in a reasonable manner, failing to provide protection for passengers in case of collision and failing to take evasive actions in order to avoid the incident.

The plaintiff is seeking an unknown amount in damages for physical pain and suffering, emotional distress, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.

Thaddeus Jones is represented by attorney Sherry Legaux in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.

Case no. 2014-05994.
