Walgreen Pharmacy sued after customer claims she fractured face in parking lot fall

GRETNA – A woman who allegedly fractured her face in a fall in the parking lot of a corporate pharmacy is suing.

Monique Lecompte filed suit against Walgreen Louisiana Co. Inc., Walgreen Pharmacy, Travelers Property and Casualty Company of America and American National Insurance in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 6.

Lecompte contends that on Nov. 13, 2013 she was on the Walgreen Pharmacy premises located at 821 W. Esplanade in Kenner when she stepped in a hole in the parking lot cement and fell to the ground. The plaintiff claims that she received injuries to her face, head, skull, and mind including facial contusions and fractures.

The defendant is accused of breaching its duty to keep the premises safe and failing to use due care under the circumstances.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, physical suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, medical care and loss of earnings.

Lecompte is represented by Mathew Hemmer of New Orleans-based Morris Bart LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

Case no. 740-997.
