GRETNA – A playground equipment distributor is suing an accountant it claims stole more than $500,000 from them.

Dyna-Play LLC filed suit against Kristin Koenig, Accurate Business Services of Louisiana LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 25.

Dyna-Play asserts it contracted Kristin Koenig and Accurate Business Services of Louisiana to provide accounting and bookkeeping services from August 2007 until Aug. 12, 2014. The plaintiff claims that during that time Koenig handled all accounts payable and receivable and other banking duties and yearly reports for tax filings, but was never at any time granted the ability to sign checks on its behalf. However, Dyna-Play alleges it discovered in August 2014 that Koenig had been forging checks to Accurate Business Services of Louisiana, of which she is the sole officer, since 2011, for an amount totaling $502,536.87.

The plaintiff contends it also discovered that Koenig and Accurate Business Services of Louisiana had increased its hourly billing rate without its knowledge and overbilled as well as billed for services not rendered.

The defendant is accused of conversion, fraud, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and bad-faith breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of $502,536.87 are sought by Dyna-Play LLC.

Dyna-Play LLC is represented by William P. Gibbens of New Orleans-based Schonekas, Evans, McGoey & McEachin LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.

Case no. 741-663.
