Ford Motor Credit Company sues man over alleged non-payment for new car

GRETNA – The financial arm of an international car manufacturer is suing a local man alleging he did not fully pay off his car loan.

Ford Motor Credit Company filed suit against Clyde A. Bloodworth in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 25.

Ford Motor Credit Company claims that it entered into a contract with Bloodworth to provide financing for a 2014 Ford Escape. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant failed to make timely payments on the vehicle. Ford Motor Credit Company contends that it repossessed the vehicle and have resold it for $16,900 and after his account was credited with the sale Bloodworth now owes $5,931.74, accrued interest of $521.92 plus late charges of $46.96.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

Damages in the amount of is sought for $6,500.62 plus 10.99 percent in contractural interest and 25 percent in principal interest and attorney’s fees.

Ford Motor Credit Company is represented by Keith M. Frey of Metairie-based Newman, Mathis, Brady & Spedale.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
