Winn-Dixie faces suit from customer who allegedly fell in floral department

Winn dixie

NEW ORLEANS – A Winn-Dixie patron is suing after allegedly being injured when she slipped in a puddle of water in the flower department.

Dimitri Young filed suit against Winn-Dixie Montgomery LLC Sept. 12 in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

Young claims she was shopping for groceries on Sept. 14, 2013 at the Winn-Dixie store at the intersection of Chef Menteur Hwy. and Read Blvd. in New Orleans. When she came upon the floral department, the suit alleges she slipped and fell in a pool of water on the floor.

As a result of the fall, Young asserts she suffered injuries to her lumbar spine and left wrist requiring an epidural steroid injection on her back as a consequence of the incident. She accuses the defendant of failing to place warning signs around the puddle, sufficiently train employees to use safety protocol and mop up the spilled water.

Represented by Harry E. Forst, Young is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for pain and suffering, mental agony, medical expenses, loss of wages, loss of enjoyment of life and disabilities.

The case has been assigned to Div. A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

Case no. 2014-08999.
