NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man is suing a local family who disputes his alleged ownership of a property they maintain still belongs to them.

Shahzad Khan filed suit against the Estate of Sandra McElveen Robiho and Estate of Melissa Maria Robiho in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 22.

Khan claims that on Oct. 25, 2010, he acquired the premises located at 1827-29 N. Miro Street from the City of New Orleans at a tax sale presented by notary public Lawrence Blake Jones. However, the defendants listed the aforementioned property as belonging to them.

Khan continues to assert since his ownership in 2010 he has restored and renovated the property, including cutting grass and replacing broken glass windows. He also states he has been present at several Code Enforcement and Hearing Bureau meetings. Thus, the petitioner demands the defendants recognize his possession of the property and drop their claim of ownership within 60 days.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Caryl H. Vesy.

The case has been assigned to Div. A Judge Tiffany G. Chase.

Case no. 2014-09261.
