Eyecare Associates sued over customer's alleged door injury

GRETNA – An optometry office is being sued by a customer who was allegedly injured when an employee opened a door into her.

Ruth Guillemet filed suit against Eyesore Providers LLC, Eyesore Management Co. Inc., Outpatient Eye Surgery Center Inc., Eyesore Associates IPA – A Non-Profit Corporation, Ronald A. Landry, M.D. a Medical Corporation, R.A. Landry Properties LLC and Eye Laser Institute LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 9.

Guillemet claims that she was a patron at Eyecare Associates located at 4324 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie and was standing next to a door in the office when an unknown employee opened it, striking her and knocking her to the floor. The plaintiff alleges that she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to exercise reasonable care when opening a door, failing to see what should have been seen and failing to act as a reasonable and prudent person under the circumstances.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medial expenses, physical pain and suffering and mental anguish.

Guillemet is represented by attorney Julien F. Jurgens of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
