GRETNA – A Brazilian wax shop is being sued for allegedly causing an infection in a woman’s groin area that had to be treated medically.
Michelle Walters-Morris filed suit against Bella Brazilian Wax LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 16.
Walters-Morris claims she received a Brazilian wax meant to remove unwanted pubic hair from Bella Brazilian Wax on March 1, 2013. The plaintiff alleges that an unknown employee completed the wax job and that a day afterward she began to feel severe pain and discomfort in her pelvic area for which she eventually sought medical treatment four days later. Walters-Morris contends she visited St. Joseph Medical Clinic in St. James Parish and was directed to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where she was admitted for treatment. The plaintiff asserts she was diagnosed as having several ingrown hairs and abscesses, as well as an infection, that required her hospitalization for a six day period as well as medical procedure including incisions to treat the infected area.
The defendant is accused of failing to perform proper hygienic practices, failing to maintain the premises in a hygienic manner, failing to perform the procedure in a safe and prudent manner, failing to give informed consent and allowing an unreasonably dangerous condition to persist.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, physical suffering, medical care and loss of enjoyment of life.
