GRETNA – A loan provider is suing a woman it claims took a loan out, but has refused to fully pay it back.
Springleaf Financial Services of Louisiana Inc. filed suit against Sheila Brooks in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 23.
Springleaf contends Brooks contracted to take out a personal loan worth $2,418.24 which she was to pay back in monthly installments of $144 over 24 month period beginning on Oct. 13, 2014. In breach of the agreement, the plaintiff asserts the defendant has failed to consistently make payments to satisfy the loan’s outstanding balance.
Springleaf claims it sent a letter to Brooks, but she has not responded to their request.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
Damages in the amount of $1,577.90 are sought by the plaintiff.
Springleaf Financial Services of Louisiana Inc. is represented by Tony Dooley of New Orleans-based The Dooley Law Office LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
