NEW ORLEANS – A guest at Harrah’s Casino alleges he slipped and fell on a mysterious substance near its buffet.
Lionel Johnson filed suit against Jazz Casino Company LLC and Harrah’s New Orleans in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Jan. 6.
On May 30, 2014, Johnson was visiting Harrah’s New Orleans located at 228 Poydras Street in New Orleans. The petitioner was headed towards the buffet restaurant inside Harrah’s, when suddenly and without warning, the plaintiff allegedly slipped and fell on a mysterious liquid described as, “an unknown slippery substance.”
The petitioner contends he sustained contusions and abrasions to both his arms and legs, multiple bruises to both his chest and abdomen, and sprains to both his neck and back. The plaintiff further avers his injuries have resulted in persistent headaches and shock.
The defendant is accused of failing to prevent a dangerous condition, failing to provide a safe environment for visitors, failing to maintain a clean walkway, failing to clean the area in a reasonable time frame, failing to examine the area and failing to warn of a hazardous condition.
The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for medical expenses, loss of wages, decline in future income, pain and suffering, disabilities, mental agony, emotional turmoil, rehabilitation and loss of enjoyment of life.
