GRETNA – The owners of a dog who was allegedly injured during a grooming session, resulting in the loss of an eye, is suing the pet spa for damages.
Asmeret Tewelde and Solomon Kassahun, individually and on behalf of their minor children, filed suit against Holli Bane, Jessi Bane, Kristina Triplett, Nathan Triplett, Furrytails Pet Spa and American Casualty Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on March 10.
The plaintiffs allege that on March 11, 2014 they left their family pet, a Shih-Tzu named Mia, in the care of Furrytails Pet Spa located at 3176 Barataria Blvd. in Marrero. While in the care of the defendants, the plaintiffs contend their dog’s eye was damaged, resulting in its loss, during a wash and blow dry.
The defendant is accused of injury, failing to properly supervise employees, failing to exercise reasonable care, failing to see what should have been seen, failing to provide a safe environment and failing to ensure safety of pets.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical bills, mental anguish, emotional distress, grief and sitting and boarding charges.
