A San Antonio, Texas, resident is suing a Walker, La., business, its employee, and its insurance carrier for alleged negligence in a 2014 motor vehicle incident.
Jacob Stringer filed against Jessie Juban; Juban’s employer, Expert Auto Transport LLC; and Western World Insurance Group, headquartered in New Hampshire and doing business in Baton Rouge, in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana on April 29, citing vehicular negligence in an August 2014 accident.
According to the suit, Juban was driving a semi in the scope of his employment with Expert Auto Transport on or about Aug. 29, 2014. Stringer was driving eastbound on Interstate 12 in St. Tammany Parish. The complaint states that as Stringer approached an exit and slowed for traffic, Juban crashed his employer’s semitrailer into the plaintiff’s car.
The complaint holds Juban responsible for failing to maintain control of the rig; keeping a lookout for traffic; and avoiding striking the plaintiff’s vehicle. It also alleges that he followed too closely and proceeded at an unsafe speed under the circumstances.
The grievance cites the employer with failure to properly train and supervise staff. Claiming physical and mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, lost wages and property damage, the plaintiff seeks compensation in the amount of $5 million; plus attorney’s fees, expenses and costs.
