A Jefferson Parish seaman is suing his employers claiming breach of duty.

Donald Contranchis filed a complaint against All Coast LLC and SEMCO LLC in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana on May 8.

The plaintiff claims he was working as an electrician aboard the M/V Sea Robin, a lift boat, on or about Aug. 18, 2014, in the Industrial Canal, Jefferson Parish. He maintains that he fell through an elevated catwalk because of missing grating.

Contranchis contends that the defendants failed to exercise reasonable care to avoid exposing him to harm and in controlling the vessel; to intervene in the hazardous condition of the walkways; and to post warning signs in the area, train the complainant in safety, and provide proper equipment.

The plaintiff asserts physical, mental and emotional pain and suffering, anguish and disability; loss of enjoyment of life; lost wages and earning capacity; permanent disability; and medical expenses.
