GRETNA – A local financier is suing a customer it claims owes more than $8,000 on a loan that he only made a handful of payments on.
Springleaf Financial Services of Louisiana Inc. filed suit against Kenny Dupre in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 15.
Springleaf asserts that on Sept. 25, 2014 it entered into a contract with Dupre to provide him with a personal loan in the amount of $7,492.52. The plaintiff claims the defendant was to repay the loan in monthly installments over a period of 47 months. However, Springleaf alleges Dupre failed to make payments on the loan beginning on Feb. 10, 2015 and has not responded to repeated requests for payment. The plaintiff alleges the defendant still owes them $8,042.57 that is accruing interest at 28.45 percent.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought full reimbursement of the loan.
Springleaf is represented by Tony Dooley of New Orleans-based The Dooley Law Office LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.
