GRETNA – A local motor sports park is being sued by man who claims he was partially disabled in a go-kart accident on its premises.
John W. Acra filed suit against Chubb Custom Insurance Company, NOLA Motorclub LLC and Motor Realty LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 28.
Acra alleges that on June 5, 2014 he was seriously injured in a go-kart racing event at NOLA Motor Sports Park located at 11075 Nicole Blvd. in Avondale. The plaintiff contends that another go-kart driver in front of him hit a puddle of water and spun out and that he collided with that driver’s go-kart. Acra asserts he was injured in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to establish safe racing rules and procedures, racing vehicle of different speeds in the same race, failing to properly signal, failing to control the course, failing to provide a safe track area and failing to warn of hazards.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, emotional anguish, mental anguish, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, partial disability and medical expenses.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
