Tenant sued for allegedly breaching lease, not paying rent for four months

Larbreach

GRETNA – The owners of a rental property are suing a tenant they had to evict for allegedly not paying rent.

Bijou and Mahdohkt Dory Motaghedi filed suit against D’Juna Chandler in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 10.

The Motaghedis allege that on June 20, 2014 Chandler signed a year long lease to rent a property at 1804 Cambridge Drive in LaPlace for $1,100 a month. The plaintiffs contend Chandler only made two payments of $500 apiece and were ordered to leave the property, but did not do so until Oct. 14, 2014. The Motaghedis assert they were unable to rent the home out again until March 6, 2015. Thus, the plaintiffs claim Chandler owes them from the beginning of the lease period until they were able to successfully lease the property again plus eviction costs and costs to change the home’s locks.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought by the plaintiff.

The plaintiffs are represented by Maria I. O’Byrne Stephenson of New Orleans-based Stephenson, Chavarri & Lambert LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.

Case no. 750-491.
