GRETNA – A local restaurant is suing a truck driver it claims ran into an electric pole and cut off electricity, damaging an ability to do business.

My Thai Cuisine LLC and Theresa Cuskelly filed suit against Jimmie Bryan/Skint Black Express and Premier Insurance of America in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 6.

My Thai Cuisine and Cuskelly contend that on July 3, 2014 Bryan drove his commercial truck into a light pole outside of the restaurant at 2104 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey. The plaintiffs asserts the incident resulted in a loss of electricity and prevents them from doing business. They also claim loss of inventory, potential customers and catering contracts.

The defendant is accused of failing to observe the road, careless operation of a motor vehicle, failing to maintain proper control of vehicle, failing to observe the road and failing to take evasive actions.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought by the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Sherry L. Legaux of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.

Case no. 751-299.
