A Lafourche Parish boating company is suing an energy services corporation once headed by former Vice President Dick Cheney alleging that one of the defendant's barges crashed into one of its boats due to, among other charges, lack of due care, lack of training and improper navigation.
Jewel Marine Inc. filed a lawsuit and demanded a jury trial against B.W. Haley and Halliburton Energy Services Inc. on June 8 in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana, citing a violation of the rules of the road, failure to comply with local navigation customs and usage, improper navigation, and failure to maintain its vessel, the B.W. Haley, in a seaworthy condition.
According to the complaint, on or about March 2, the vessel Diamond Edge, owned by Jewel Marine Inc., collided with the B.W. Haley. Jewel Marine is seeking a jury trial to determine damages.
Jewel Marine Inc. is represented by attorneys Robert S. Reich and Michael T. Wawrzycki of Metairie-based Reich, Album & Plunkett LLC.
