A Louisiana nurse is suing her former employer, alleging she was fired for unjust reasons.

Ayango Nettles filed a lawsuit Oct. 13 in U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana against Oschner Health Care System, alleging she was terminated due to her race and age.

According to the complaint, Nettles, 42, an African-American, experienced several unfortunate incidents, including dealing with a racist patient, who later had to be passed off to another nurse. The suit says claims another nurse then falsified the records of Nettles' care of this patient, stating she engaged in an argument with the patient.

The lawsuit states Nettles was falsely accused of using her cell phone on her shift, one of the reasons Oschner cited in why the defendant fired her. The plaintiffs alleges her co-workers also discriminated against her for her age, saying she was too old to perform the duties. She was terminated Nov. 11, 2014.

Nettles seeks unspecified damages, litigation costs and other relief deemed appropriate by the court. She is representing herself.
