Lawyer

A man from Vermilion Parish is suing his former employer over claims of injuries sustained while on the job.

Beaux A. Cormier filed a lawsuit on Oct. 21 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Saratoga Resources Inc., M&M Wireline & Offshore Services LLC, and the marine vessel M&M 102, citing negligence.

Cormier was employed by M&M as a crew member of the vessel M&M 102, the claim states. According to the claim, on Nov. 30, 2014, Cormier was being transported back to the vessel by a jon boat owned by Saratoga that was poorly positioned upon arrival back to the main vessel. While attempting to board the main vessel, the jon boat backed away and Cormier lost his balance, falling and injuring his back, leg, head, knees, shoulder, arm and hand, among others, the claim states.

Cormier claims that the injury was a result of negligence in failing to tie off the jon boat and otherwise take safety precautions.

Cormier is seeking damages totaling $2.15 million. He is also seeking unspecified additional damages and attorney costs. He is represented by attorney Kenneth W. Dejean and attorneys Edward O. Taulbee, IV and Christopher E. Taulbee of Taulbee Law Firm, all located in Lafayette.
