NEW ORLEANS – A seaman is suing over claims that he was injured while working on a boat.
Dalton Grant Young filed a lawsuit on Nov. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Seacor Marine LLC, Longnecker Properties Inc, and E.N.I. US Operating Co. Inc., citing negligence.
According to the claim, on Aug. 30, Young was on the ENI platform assisting with a load onto a Seacor Marine vessel, the Clay Ella. As the load approached the vessel, a sudden movement of the boat and load allegedly knocked Young to the ground, causing injury to his left knee, lower back and neck.
The lawsuit claims that ENI's crane operator neglected to maintain proper control of the load, and the Clay Ella's boat handler did not provide adequate control of the vessel. As a result of the incident, Young claims to have suffered disabling physical injuries and mental suffering.
In addition to medical expenses, Young is suing for lost wages, physical pain and suffering, permanent disability, and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiff is seeking compensation in the amount of $2 million plus court costs.
