NEW ORLEANS – A Terrebonne Parish environmental company says its business partner broke an agreement to help it complete an Environmental Protection Agency contract.
Lawson Environmental Services filed a lawsuit Dec. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Enviroworks LLC, alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, Lawson and Enviroworks formed a partnership to complete an EPA contract for the remediation of several sites in Terrebonne Parish in May 2012. The agreement required Enviroworks to pay 20 percent of the project’s labor costs and pay workers under the Davis Bacon Act or the Fair Labor Standards Act, the suit claims. Lawson Environmental says Enviroworks broke their agreement by walking off the job site in bad faith and has refused to pay its 20 percent share of the net operating loss.
Lawson seeks punitive and compensatory damages, plus litigation costs. It is represented by attorney Kathryn W. Richard of Duval, Funderburk, Sundbery, Lovell and Watkins of Houma.
