NEW ORLEANS – A Texas company that was brought in to complete a state construction contract is suing the original builders for alleged defects it was required to correct.
Patriot Contracting LLC filed a lawsuit Dec. 9 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Star Insurance Co. and The Architectural Studio/James Dodds, AIA Corp., alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, the state of Louisiana rejected the work The Architectural Studio had performed under contract on the New Group Camp, Bayou Segnette State Park in Westwego in 2013. Patriot, the suit says, was hired to complete the work to specification in 2014. However, Patriot claims it has not been paid for defects it was required to correct in the original construction. The project's total cost was approximately $2.54 million.
Patriot seeks damages of more than $75,000, plus litigation costs and interest. It is represented by attorneys Lloyd N. Shields, Jessica R. Derenbecker and Jessica A. Roberts of the New Orleans firm Shields Mott LLP.
