BATON ROUGE – A group of Baton Rouge painters are suing their former employer, Purity Group, and its owners in a dispute involving overtime wages.
German Antunez, Hugo Medina, Fabricio Coello, Delmer Medina Macias, Joel Macias and Edwin Bueso Macias filed a class-action lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Purity Group LLC, Eric Turk and Jami Saucier Turk, alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs and all others eligible under this collective action worked nine-hour shifts at least six days a week, but never were paid time-and-a-half for hours in excess of 40. The suit also states the defendants withheld their final paychecks, short paying them each for 30 hours of work.
The plaintiffs seek compensation for all allegedly unpaid overtime wages and for the contract value of their final paychecks. They are represented by attorneys Donald J. Cazayoux Jr. and J.
