Whistleblower accuses cab company of retaliation

Whistle

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman says her employer fired her after she turned the company in for allegedly making false Medicaid and Medicare claims.

Madelyn Faveros Zuppardo filed a lawsuit March 4 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against A Service Cab Company Inc., alleging violations of state and federal laws that prohibit the filing of false claims.

According to the complaint, the defendant knowingly provided false invoices and bills to both the U.S. government and the state of Louisiana for transportation services. The suit says some of the bills were for trips never made, or were from false locations and destinations. After reporting the alleged violations, Zuppardo says the company terminated her employment.

Zupardo seeks reinstatement and compensatory damages for wrongful termination costs, mental anguish, back pay, special damages, and litigation costs. She is represented by attorney Glenn C. McGovern of Metairie.
