Engineering company alleges Louisiana business hasn't paid for work

NEW ORLEANS – A Texas contractor is suing a Louisiana business, alleging it has not been paid for work provided.

Aker Solutions of Houston filed a lawsuit March 29 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Shamrock Energy Solutions LLC and Samurai International Petroleum LLC, both of Houma, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Aker entered into a contract with Shamrock on Sept 14, 2014, to perform early phase field development engineering for Trident Field in the Gulf of Mexico. The suit says Aker performed the engineering services and submitted four invoices to the defendants from November 2014 to March 2015 that totaled $1,780,144.19.

The complaint states Aker has not been paid despite the president and manager of Shamrock stating it will pay at least $500,000 of the outstanding balance by the end of the 2015 calendar year. The defendants have yet to pay either amount, the suit says.

Aker seeks the full $1,780,144.19 as well as pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, and any other amounts the court deems just. He is represented by attorney David S. Bland from Bland & Partners PLLC in New Orleans and Brian J. Comarda in Houston.
